The recent escalation of tensions on the contact line has nothing to do with the Azerbaijan military exercises, said on Friday the press-Secretary of the defense Army of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Senor Hasratyan.

Previously, the defense Ministry of Azerbaijan announced a planned mid-November large-scale military exercises.

“Regardless of Azerbaijan conducts military exercises or not, it keeps the tension on the frontline,” said Hasratyan, noting that while there is no peace agreement, there is a risk of such exacerbations. “The armed forces of Artsakh (the self-name of Nagorno-Karabakh) are willing to give back,” he added.

The NKR defense Ministry said Friday about the worsening situation on the contact line in Karabakh. To suppress the activity of the enemy defense Army of Karabakh retaliated. The NKR defense Ministry said that the responsibility for heightened tensions falls on Baku.

The Azerbaijani authorities during the subsequent military conflict have lost control over Nagorno-Karabakh. Since 1992 negotiations on peaceful settlement of the conflict within OSCE Minsk group. Azerbaijan insists on maintaining its territorial integrity, Armenia protects interests of unrecognized Republic as Nagorno-Karabakh is not a party to the negotiations.
