The Russian Orthodox Church respects the dignity of any person, including the atheist, the sentence blogger Ruslan Sokolovsky was made not because of his atheistic views. About it RIA Novosti said the Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department of the Moscow Patriarchate on relations of the Church with society and the media Vakhtang Kipshidze.

The words of the representative of the Russian Orthodox Church were a response to appeal of Vladimir Pozner to the Patriarch. The presenter asked for a comprehensive explanation, if he violates the criminal code, saying that is an atheist.

«We believe that if a person adheres to the atheistic belief, it does not offend anyone’s feelings. We have always advocated open and honest dialogue, including atheists. Dialogue with them is built on respect for dignity as believers and unbelievers. Believers and non-believers have dignity as people created in the image and likeness of God,» said the Kipshidze.

He stressed that the Church has never questioned the principle of secularism that exists in Russian society. According to him, the sentence Sokolowski made not because he holds atheistic beliefs, but because of his statements about believers dignity.
In August last year, Sokolowski posted on its YouTube channel a video of him playing app Pokemon GO during the service in the Temple-on-Blood in Ekaterinburg. The video was accompanied by obscene language, stylized hymns, and in the end write the blogger ridiculed the foundations of Christianity.

Last Thursday, the court sentenced Sokolowski to three and a half years of imprisonment conditionally. Blogger, in particular, was convicted of inciting hatred against Christianity and Islam.
