The US authorities did not put pressure on the Swedish Prosecutor’s office in the investigation of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange of rape, said at a press conference in Stockholm Prosecutor Marianne Nude.
«Any pressure is not carried out. Pressure in any form was not» — said the Prosecutor.
In Sweden in the summer of 2010 against Assange began investigations on the application of two women about his sexual ambitions during his stay in Stockholm. The suspect was detained in London on 7 December of the same year at the request of the Swedish police, insisting on his extradition. However, a few days Assange was released on bail.
The suspect is in the Embassy of Ecuador in London since 2012 — he then appealed to the Ecuadorian authorities with a request for political asylum for fear of extradition by Swedish authorities in the United States in connection with his activities in Wikileaks.
On Friday it became known that the Swedish prosecution authority discontinued the investigation into Assange, suspected of rape in 2010. London police issued a statement in which he warned that if Assange leaves the Embassy, he gets arrested again. The reason for the arrest in London will be still a valid warrant issued by Westminster magistrates court after the founder of the controversial website 29 Jun 2012 refused to surrender to the court.
