The President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte will stay in Russia from 22 to 26 may with an official visit, during which he is expected to meet with the Russian authorities, informs television channel ABS-CBN.
As reported by the second Secretary of the Philippine Ministry of foreign Affairs Maria Natividad Cleofe (Maria Cleofe Natividad), the purpose of the visit Duterte to Russia will strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.
«We believe that this will mark a new Chapter in Philippine-Russian relations. We see this visit as a sign of our shared strong commitment to expand and strengthen bilateral relations,» Natividad told reporters during a press conference at the presidential Palace Malacanang.
The President of Russia Vladimir Putin invited Duterte to visit during the meeting at the APEC summit in Peru, which took place in November last year.
