. The use of viagra and other aphrodisiacs will not increase your chances of developing melanoma and other forms of skin cancer, say scientists in an article published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

«Doctors still do not give up and test for the possibility of cancer of the skin, but they don’t need to add viagra and other similar drugs in the number of risk factors. In General, men just need to understand how excessive exposure to the Sun affects the skin and use sunscreen,» said Stacy Leeb (Stacy Loeb) from the University of new York (USA).

Three years ago, scientists from Harvard University said that they failed to disclose the relationship between the intake of viagra and other similar drugs and the development of aggressive forms of melanoma. They came to the conclusion that viagra changed the work of skin cells so that they become more vulnerable to the action of ultraviolet light and carcinogens.

These findings have repeatedly been criticized. For example, last year, Swedish doctors published the results of similar but more large-scale experiments that confirmed the existence of a relationship between erectile dysfunction and skin cancer.

Loeb and her colleagues came to similar conclusions and find out why Harvard doctors made the same mistake, after studying the statistics collected during five other similar studies conducted in the United States. They were attended by about 866 thousand men in middle and old age, about 41 thousand of which was acquired melanoma during supervision.

If you look at the whole situation, then we can say that the use of viagra indeed associated with increased likelihood of developing cancer – her lovers melanoma and other skin cancers occurred in 11% more likely than other men.

This, however, was not related to the drug itself – as scholars have noted, the admission of the viagra does not increase the likelihood of developing aggressive forms of skin cancer, and increases the probability of detecting at early but not later stages of development.

Both these features, according to Loeb, indicate the real cause of this increase – men who took viagra were more likely to visit doctors and take better care of their health, thanks to cancer was found more often and earlier than other participants of these studies. In addition, fans of viagra can more and more often to tan and go to tanning than other men, which can also contribute to the development of skin cancer.
