On the fourth day, the anniversary of the festival de Cannes the queue for screenings increase exponentially, but on the streets it is impossible to push, that does not prevent celebrities walk on it in dress coats and evening dresses. The audience managed to see five films in the main competition, including «Dislike» by Andrei Zvyagintsev.
Life on the film festival is complicated by unprecedented security measures: at all entrances to the Palais des festivals, film market and views formed huge queues, which is a festival for all the 70 years of existence has never seen. The inspection is so carefully and strictly, what bags they even throw out the gum, medicines, food to take with you is strictly prohibited, and some journalists do not allow the technique. After this even the most stringent airport security checks seem a cakewalk on a lovely summer day.
Because of this, virtually all screenings delayed by ten or fifteen minutes, which for a festival where everything is planned and goes like clockwork, very unusual.
In Cannes there is a strict Protocol for all procedures, whether film screening, press conference or red carpet, but also a kind of class segregation. Journalists accredited with the pink never gets in with the blue, ordinary people do not get to see the film, and the celestials with white accreditation is always and everywhere will be the first.
Despite this, we should not lose hope to meet some celebrity, for example, on the way to the toilet. So, in the first days of the festival the streets were walking actress: Julianne Moore, who came to Cannes with the film «Dazed» and in the Palace of festivals, the head of the jury of the contest «Special view» Uma Thurman swept along with everyone on the escalator in a long white dress.
Also on the streets was seen and French writer Frederic Beigbeder, who recently came to Moscow to present the film «the Ideal». He calmly walked in a black tuxedo under the scorching sun, while before him ran a crowd of reporters with cameras and cameras.
Flesh and sand
A twenty minute drive from Cannes Oscar-winning Mexican Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu unveiled its VR-installation «Flesh and sand» (Carne y arena), which is dedicated to the theme of migratory crisis. The Director has developed this project for four years with a famous operator Emmanuel Lubezki, iñárritu who has worked on the films «Birdman» and Survivors». Both projects were awarded prizes of the Academy award «Oscar».
At the entrance to the aircraft hangar littered the floor with sand to give visitors a VR helmet and backpack. Wearing a helmet, you find yourself in the Mexican Sonoran desert at sunset. Soon on the horizon there are people who turn out to be immigrants — tired and stumbling, carrying their children across the desert and darkness. Suddenly appears in the sky, a helicopter of the border police, which orders immigrants to stay and surrender. Another attempt to cross the border of Mexico and the United States fails. The installation will work in the framework of the festival until may 28 and then will be moved to the Fondazione Prada in Milan.

The installation is incredibly relevant, especially given the frequent detentions of illegal migrants in the United States. Thus, according to immigration and customs enforcement of the United States, the number of detentions of migrants for illegal entry into the country increased by 150% since the beginning of the year, the Department detained more than 10 thousand people, while over the same period last year there were about four thousand. Do not forget about the promise of the new US President Donald trump to build a wall on the border with Mexico.
