The delegation of the Russian pilgrims arrived at the airport of the Italian city of Bari, in order to take part in celebrations on the occasion of the historic visit of the relics of St. Nicholas to Russia.

The relics of St. Nicholas for the first time in history to leave the Bari, which holds more than 900 years. In Russia, they will be available for veneration in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Among the participants of the delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church, politicians and public figures. They will accompany the relics to Bari, taking off to Moscow followed by a special flight with the Shrine.

Sunday is expected to numerous pilgrims from Russia, who will pray in the Basilica of Saint Nicholas at the Saint’s feast day — may 22. The rector of the Patriarchal metochion of St. Nicholas in Bari Archpriest Andrei Soldiers told reporters that every year on this day, thousands of Orthodox believers.
