The special flight with the relics of St. Nicholas arrived at the airport of Bari and from there flew to Moscow in about three and a half hours he landed in the airport Vnukovo-3.

The Shrine, which for the first time in history left the city of Bari, where it is stored already 930 years, accompanied by the head of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk and Archbishop of Bari, Francesco’s Cacucci. Believers of Russia will bring the left edge of Saint Nicholas. It is placed in a special ark behind armored glass. Thus the first part of the relics of the most revered Christian Saint will be on display, as in Bari, the relics are immured in the tomb under a marble slab weighing 32 tons, they cannot be seen.

In Moscow, the flight will meet the Metropolitan clergy. It is expected that the relic will arrive at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior during the holiday evening service of about 18 hours Moscow time. The ark with the relics will be met personally by the Patriarch.
