The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko did not plan to participate in the held in Istanbul summit of the organization of black sea economic cooperation (BSEC) due to the «low status» of registered participants, reported RIA Novosti a source close to Poroshenko.

Earlier, in Istanbul, opened the summit of the BSEC. Russia is the Prime Minister of the country Dmitry Medvedev. It was expected that Poroshenko will participate in the meeting of heads of state and Prime Ministers, who are part of the organization. Poroshenko was presented in delegazioni lists from Ukraine, but a group of country representatives at the summit was headed by first Deputy Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv.

«The proposals (to participate – ed.) was, but managed to convince (Poroshenko – ed.) not to go,» — said the Agency interlocutor.

The black sea economic cooperation organization is an intergovernmental organization uniting 12 States of black sea region and Southern Balkans. Founded in 1992. Headquarters located in Istanbul.
