Russian mobile operator MTS sees no risks to the company’s activities in Ukraine due to the reduction of the mobile Internet after the Ukrainian government imposed sanctions on Russian Internet resources, said Vice-President of MTS on strategy and marketing Vasil Latsanich.

MTS ‘ revenues in the first quarter decreased by 1.1% and amounted to 104,7 billion rubles. Revenue in Ukraine increased by 2.9% to 2.8 billion USD (6 billion).

«We believe that there still is potential for development… what happened with the Internet-resources, for us has no direct relationship. We very much hope that we… will not in any way suffer reduction of mobile Internet use by our consumers…. Any specific risk we are not laying in addition to the General risks that are inherent in every country,» Latsanich said at a press conference.

Earlier the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko approved the decision of the national security Council on the renewal and expansion of the list of natural and legal persons of the Russian Federation in respect of which the sanctions. The extended list included 1228 physical and legal entities. 468 In particular, Ukraine imposes sanctions against a number of Russian media, the country is also prohibited access to social networks «Vkontakte», «Classmates» and resources «Yandex» and Mail.ru. The decree entered into force on 17 may.

In MTS noted that to comply with the legislation of Ukraine, the operator, started to block access to Internet resources.
