Russian President Vladimir Putin will present state awards for merits in development of sports, culture and industry.

As reported a press-service of the Kremlin, «about thirty prominent Russians working in the field of science, culture, health, sports, industry will receive from the hands of the President of the Russian Federation medals and badges conferring honorary titles».

May 18, Russian President signed a decree on awarding, it contains about a hundred names.

One of the most prestigious awards, which Putin handed in the Kremlin, — the order «For merits before Fatherland». The award, whose motto «Benefit, honor and glory», awarded for particularly outstanding services related to strengthening the Russian statehood, socially-economic development of the country, research activities, development of culture and art, outstanding sports achievements, strengthening of peace, friendship and cooperation among peoples and for his significant contribution to strengthening Russia’s defense capability.

Medal «For the salvation of perishing» is awarded to citizens for rescuing people during natural disasters, on water, underground, when fighting fires and in other circumstances involving risk to life.

The order of Friendship is awarded to citizens and nationals of foreign States for special merits in strengthening peace, friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between peoples.

The order of Alexander Nevsky awarded for outstanding personal merits in the sphere of state building and many years of dedicated service and good results in the performance of official duties, for his merits in strengthening the international authority of Russia’s defense capability, development of economy, science, education, culture, art, health. This award is also awarded to prominent foreign politicians and public figures.
