In St. Petersburg the VIII Nevsky ecological Congress

In St.-Petersburg begins work VIII Nevsky international ecological Congress. Its main theme is «Environmental education — clean country».

The forum is organized by the Interparliamentary Assembly of States-participants of the CIS (IPA CIS), the Federation Council and the Ministry of natural resources. The event takes place from may 25 to 26 in the Tauride Palace.

According to the head of the IPA CIS Council, speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, the issues of environmental education and enlightenment in the modern world acquire special relevance.

«It is necessary to form such a consciousness that each of us felt personal responsibility for what earth, air, water, we leave to future generations. The formation of a fundamentally new relationship to nature will be able to prevent the emergence of a global environmental crisis,» said the Senator.

Open forum meetings, thematic «round tables» main topics: «Development of system of especially protected natural areas as an effective mechanism of preservation and development of biological diversity», «Favorable environmental conditions as the key to preserving the health of the population». The discussion will also include issues of improving the system of integrated waste management, and ecology of the Urals, the future of the Aral sea.

During the business part of the program 26 may plenary session will be held. Keynote presentations will be made by the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko and the Minister of natural resources and ecology of Russia Sergey Donskoy.

Environmental education will be discussed by the heads of the legislative and Executive bodies of state power, representatives of international organizations, business circles, educational and research institutions, mass media, public associations of the CIS countries and other States.

The Congress will be formed proposals to improve legislation aimed at further development of environmental education, strengthening of interregional and cross-border cooperation in the CIS, introduction of resource saving technologies, ensuring a healthy environment and improve the quality of human life.

During the two days will also be held thematic exhibitions and presentations. Will take action to restore lost trees in the Tauride garden.
