The Council of Muftis of Russia has reminded those wishing to perform the Hajj Muslims about the main reason why they may not be allowed in Saudi Arabia. Muslims wishing to perform Hajj must have a passport of the new sample (10 years), otherwise Saudi Arabia will not issue them a visa, said the Council of Muftis of Russia.

This year the Hajj will be able to make 20,5 thousand Russians. The end of the pilgrimage marking the holiday of Eid al-Fitr, this year Muslims around the world celebrate it on September 1.

«I remind you that believers who want to go to Hajj must obtain a passport of the new sample, which is valid for 10 years. Saudi Arabia does not accept passports of old sample and we are unable to obtain visas. Therefore we warn our believers, so they have time to prepare the documents. There’s still time,» — said at a press conference in MIA «Russia today», the first Deputy Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia Rushan Abbyasov.

The collection of documents will continue until July. In August, the pilgrims will depart to Mecca. In this and next year, as noted Abbyasov, the time of the rites of Hajj falls in the hottest period.

The Hajj is a pilgrimage to the Holy places of Islam in Mecca and its surroundings. To perform the Hajj at least once in the life is prescribed to every Muslim. According to the existing agreements with any country, Saudi Arabia allocates to each state a quota for the number of pilgrims who may visit the Holy places in the Hajj season, depending on population. For every million of the population is the quota for Hajj for thousands of believers.
