International Human rights organization Human Rights Watch (HRW) published a report on the persecution of gays in Chechnya. It is based on interviews with victims men, journalists and experts, told RIA Novosti the author and program Director for Russia Tatyana Lokshina.

The human rights activist noted that HRW mentions «their findings and recommendations with officials in Russia and abroad, and with key international organizations, including specialized UN agencies, the Council of Europe and OSCE».

The authors of the report, urged foreign States to grant victims «a safe haven».

In the Chechen Parliament said that allegations of harassment of gays in the region cannot be considered serious.

Earlier in the press service of the movement «Russian LGBT network» reported that the organization intends to take evacuees from the territory of Chechnya gays outside of Russia. Now the movement is seeking to provide the victims with visas, including the EU countries.

In the beginning of April, «Novaya Gazeta» has published an article which said about the mass detention in Chechnya residents based on sexual orientation. Press Secretary of the head of Chechnya, Alvi Karimov denied the information of the newspaper. The Kremlin said that there is no reason to doubt the information provided by the head of the Republic Ramzan Kadyrov.

The Commissioner for human rights in Russia Tatyana Moskalkova said that he had received from the publication of the names of people who allegedly were subjected to repression due to sexual orientation, and sent a petition to the Investigative Committee.

Prosecutors and other law enforcement bodies of Chechnya organized inspection after the publication in «Novaya Gazeta».
