The Commissioner for human rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova, visiting the Friday center for social and forensic psychiatry named after the Serbian, noted the importance of establishment of cooperation in various areas of activity, reported Saturday on the website of the Ombudsman.

«For me, as Commissioner, is extremely important to establish with scientific center of cooperation in various areas, including in the field of work with citizens with mental disabilities, when working on cases on challenging the results of a psychiatric examination in the field of legal education», — stated in the message.

Moskalkova during a visit to the centre and discussed with its CEO, in particular, the protection of the rights of patients with mental disorders, the objectivity of the «examination of the soul», the creation of an independent office for monitoring the rights of citizens in psychiatric hospitals of the closed type, modern methods of treatment of alcoholism, drug addiction, gambling addiction, and rehabilitation of persons with mental and behavioral disorders.

The Ombudsman noted that the protection of the rights of citizens with mental health at all times is «one of the most pressing issues of human rights work». She also added that each patient is there in good conditions and provided with an individual space.

«The conditions are strict but fair, given that this is not just a refuge for citizens who have committed terrible crimes, chilling the heart,» is given in the message of her words.
