Communist Saturday in Moscow will hold its 17th report-election Congress, which will be re-elected members of the Central Committee of the party.

The event will take place in the Concert hall «Izmailovo». The last time this Congress was held in February 2013.

As said the first Deputy Chairman of the CPRF Central Committee Ivan Melnikov, the Communist leader, Gennady Zyuganov, will present a report on the work of the current composition of the Central Committee.

«The report will address all areas of work of the party. Held an exchange of views in the debate. Will be discussed and adopted the documents of the Congress. And then the delegates will elect a new Central Committee and control Commission. According to preliminary estimates, knowing the proposals of the regions, I can say that the average age of the new composition of the Central Committee will be younger than the current one,» he said.

According to him, in the evening the new Central Committee members at its first organizational Plenum to elect the Presidium of the Central Committee.

Melnikov stated that now there is a lot of materials about some of the groups that are fighting within the party.

«The media want to heat up the event, it’s understandable and expected. But I can say that the leadership of the party goes to Congress in an atmosphere of unity and camaraderie, everyone feels a historical responsibility for the holding of this forum in the year of the 100th anniversary of the Great October,» — said a Communist.

He expressed confidence that the Congress will be lively, interesting, politically meaningful and will open the floodgates to a large new stage of work and struggle, where the first important challenge will be the election campaign of the President of Russia.
