The former head of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, head of the Center for strategic research (CSR) Alexei Kudrin said that raising the retirement age is necessary, including to ensure the growth of pensions by 30%.

«According to our plan, within six years, we wish the pension was 30% more than today. It is difficult to gather the resources necessary reforms, including raising the retirement age. Better for two or three years longer to work, but then to have a higher pension. Many retirees say they agreed to it,» said Kudrin in interview to the program «Vesti on Saturday» on TV channel «Russia».

The leading question, up to what age he Kudrin plans to work, he replied: «a Person who works in science or in the expert community, working continuously, it does not terminate their activities either in 65 or later.»

Kudrin answered the question of when he plans to return to politics. «Not now, now I’m needed in the program design. And then, when all tasks have been completed… I would like to do the embodiment of their programs,» he said.

Previously, the newspaper «Vedomosti» reported that Kudrin has prepared for President Vladimir Putin’s strategy, which proposes to reduce the number of pension recipients. According to CSR, the age of retirement should increase for women to 63 years for men to 65. The increase must be a step for six months starting in 2019.

Discussion about raising the retirement age in Russia continues not the first year. Now men retire at 60, women at 55. The Minister of labour and social protection Maxim Topilin said earlier that in 2017 the decision to raise the retirement age in Russia will not.
