The number of businessmen from the USA who plan to attend the St. Petersburg international economic forum this year will be greater than in the past, said in an interview with RIA Novosti trade representative of Russia to the United States Alexander Stadnik in advance of the forum.

«This year quite a large number of American businessmen plans to visit the St. Petersburg economic forum. Desire to attend SPIEF is the part of American companies, organizations that represent business interests, the U.S.-Russia business Council, American chamber of Commerce and so forth,» — said Stadnik.

He added that overall, «the (U.S.-Russian – ed.), business sparkled, each event, each time caused more and more interest.»

«Now it is confirmed that more American businessmen will be at the SPIEF, and representation will be more serious, will come to those organizations who previously for various reasons were not able to do so. I believe that this year will be an interesting job,» — said Stadnik.

«I’m sure that will be necessary and useful actions devoted to cooperation with the United States and North America,» added a sales representative.

In 2016, the U.S. Department of state encouraged its companies to take part in SPIEF, citing the fact that «there are clear risks, both economic and reputational, associated with their cooperation with the authorities intervening in the Affairs of neighboring countries,» referring to the joining of Crimea to the Russian Federation.
