The first meeting of the bilateral Commission for cooperation between the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) and the Museum community will gather in the near future; the Commission will meet in the event of conflict, said Bishop mark Tikhon (Shevkunov) at the round table in the framework of the festival «Intermuseum-2017» in «Manege».

Saturday at the festival «Intermuseum-2017» held a round table meeting under the title «Museums-temples: yesterday, today, tomorrow». It was attended by the Minister of culture Vladimir Medinsky, Bishop mark Tichon, Director of the State historical Museum (GIM) Alexei Levykin and other professionals. They discussed the issue of interaction between the Museum community and the Russian Orthodox Church.

«We have already established the Commission of the Russian Orthodox Church on interaction with the Museum community and the Commission of the Ministry of culture in cooperation with the Church. For some time we have ceased to pay attention to this organization, and now again decided that she will be betrayed by a dynamic and official status. In the near future will hold the first meeting of the Commission. It will not meet periodically, as necessary. There is a difficult conflict situation, we will meet,» said Shevkunov.

According to him, the head of the Commission from the Ministry of culture will Levykin, he Shevkunov will head the Commission from the Russian Orthodox Church and the diocesan drevlehranilische of the Moscow city diocese Archpriest Leonid Kalinin will guide its activities.

The Minister of culture Vladimir Medinsky said that the Museum community and the ROC need to maintain an ongoing dialogue for fruitful cooperation.
