The German government strongly condemns the attack on the diplomatic quarter in Kabul, said Deputy official representative of the government of Ulrike Demmer.

«The German government condemns in the strongest terms the attack on the diplomatic quarter this morning in Kabul. This dastardly act which resulted in the deaths of many people. On behalf of the Chancellor and the German government I want to Express my condolences to all the victims,» said Demmer.

She added that during the attack is a «hit employees of the German Embassy, currently they are in a safe place, they helped.» Servant of Afghan origin from the protection of the Embassy were killed. In the German foreign office runs a crisis headquarters to monitor the situation.

A powerful bomb exploded in Kabul on Wednesday morning near the presidential Palace and buildings of foreign embassies. Many buildings were damaged, including the embassies of France and Germany. The death toll in the explosion, according to media reports, has reached 90 people, injuring 380 people. Terrorist group «Islamic state» (IG banned in Russia) claimed responsibility for the blast in the Afghan capital.
