The first Charter flight from Japan to the southern Kuril Islands rescheduled for June 19 due to weather conditions, told reporters on Sunday the organizers of the trip of former Japanese residents of the Islands airport town Nakashibetsu.

The flight was scheduled for 08:30 (02:30 GMT), but for that hour, the organizers announced that the flight was delayed due to heavy fog.

«The situation has not changed and it was decided to postpone the flight for tomorrow at the same hour that was originally scheduled for today,» — told reporters one of the organizers of the trip.

Saturday at the airport Nakashibetsu is a turboprop aircraft of the far Eastern airline «Aurora» for the first time to deliver flight 70 former residents of the South Kuril Islands and their carers to visit the graves of their ancestors under the visa-free exchange between the two countries. They planned to visit the Islands of Kunashir and Shikotan.

To accompany them on the trip will be officials, including Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Japan, Nobuo Kishi.

As reported by RIA Novosti at the airport, the aircraft of the airline «Aurora» will remain in Nakashibetsu.

So far for these trips were used Maritime transport, but in April of this year during the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Moscow, an agreement was reached on granting the former residents of the South Kuril Islands to visit them by plane.

The transfer of Japan of Islands of Kunashir, Iturup, Shikotan and Habomai Tokyo is put forward as conditions for the conclusion with Russia the peace Treaty. The position of Moscow consists that southern Kuriles became part of the Soviet Union at the end of the Second world war and the Russian sovereignty over them has the appropriate international legal registration and not be questioned.
