First Vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Gerashchenko and the British Ambassador to Ukraine Judith Gough thanked the police for ensuring law and order and security during the «equality March» in Kiev.

«March of equality» was held on Sunday in Kiev. According to police, in it have taken part about 2,5 thousand persons. The marchers agreed with the Kiev authorities, accompanied by several hundred police officers and soldiers of the National guard, surrounding the column on all sides, as well as a few cars «ambulance». Previously, the website of the TV channel «112 Ukraine» reported about clashes between police and radicals who oppose the March.

«Equality March passed without any provocations and adventures. Although several police officers were injured from the actions of radical young people. Kiev and Ukraine have passed the test of devotion to fundamental European values, the right to be free, equal, to be themselves. That’s good. Thank you, to our police, well done,» wrote Gerashchenko on his page in Facebook.

At the same time, the British Ambassador took part in the «March of equality» in Kiev and thanked the police for ensuring the safety of the marchers. «A wonderful festive atmosphere in Киевпрайд2017. Thanks to law enforcement and government officials for creation of safe conditions,» the Ambassador wrote in his microblog on Twitter also Gough attached a photo from March.

The LGBT community have repeatedly carried out actions in Kiev and other Ukrainian cities, in which supporters of the extension of the rights of sexual minorities often had conflicts with their opponents. In June 2015 on the «equality March» in Kiev, which was attended by about 300 people, killed 11 police officers and several protesters. On the March in 2016, was beaten by one party.
