Humanitarian aid collected by Russian religious communities, will grant Syrian Latakia on June 22, then it will distribute to cities and towns in Syria, told RIA Novosti Secretary for inter-Christian relations of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate hieromonk Stefan (Igumnov).

In April of 2017 by the Council on interaction with religious associations under the President of the Russian Federation was formed the interreligious working group on humanitarian assistance to the population of Syria. It included representatives of both Christian confessions and Muslim communities of Russia.

«Cargo will depart from Moscow on June 22, the Board of the Ministry of defense. He will arrive in Latakia. Then it will be transported through Syria to Aleppo and some other points. Distribution will occur either June 23 or June 24, if anything the timing will not move,» — said Igumnov.

In Syria will bring 20 tons of food and medical necessities. The representative of the Russian Orthodox Church noted that this party is only the first.

«The funds raised exceed the amount that was spent on the first shipment. Roughly speaking, one plane we completed, but the funds remain, so there will be other parties,» he explained.

In parallel with this, as reported by the DECR Secretary, June 23 in Lebanon Beirut will host a round table with the participation of the members of the interreligious working group and representatives of local faiths, «where the parties will discuss further projects.»

According to Bart, currently the ICRC humanitarian operation in Syria is the most voluminous of the respective missions of the red cross. According to him, about half the population of Syria are refugees, including internally displaced persons.
