The agreement between Uzbekistan and Russia on labour migration will contribute to the security and tranquility of citizens of the Republic working in Russia, said the President of the Republic Shavkat Mirziyoev.

Mirziyoev last week spoke at the conference on social stability, preserving the true essence of the religion of Islam. The head of Uzbekistan emphasized «the importance of safety and security of young people, honestly working for foreign countries.» Therefore, the head of state noted the importance of agreements in the sphere of labor migration signed between Uzbekistan and Russia, said the TV channel «Uzbekistan».

«Our children there (in Russia — ed.) work, and it is important for us to live in peace and tranquility. This purpose was signed a bilateral agreement (between Russia and Uzbekistan — ed.),» said Mirziyoev, quoted by the TV channel.

In early April, the governments of Russia and Uzbekistan signed an agreement between the governments of the two countries for the organized recruitment and attraction of citizens of Uzbekistan for the implementation of the temporary labor activity on the territory of the Russian Federation. The document was signed during the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Moscow on April 4-5. The government of the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan also signed an agreement on mutual establishment of offices of competent bodies in the field of migration.

According to estimates, currently, working outside almost 32 million of Uzbekistan there are about 3 million people (almost a third of the working population). According to the interior Ministry of the Russian Federation, Russia is home to the 1.7 million citizens of Uzbekistan, from the beginning of 2017, the increase amounted to about 600 thousand people, which is 10% higher than a year ago.
