The Supreme court upheld the verdict of the citizen of Estonia Arsene, Mardaleishvili, sentenced to 11 years in prison for espionage, the correspondent of RIA Novosti news from the courtroom.

«The Moscow city court sentence to leave without change, the appeal complaint of the lawyer without satisfaction», — announced the decision one of the judges of the Collegium. The sentence came into force, but the lawyer may file an appeal in cassation.

The complaint was considered closed, since the case is marked «classified».

A resident of Estonia, according to the FSB, in the process, confessed to the collection and transfer of Department of security police of Ministry of internal Affairs of Estonia for money of information constituting a state secret, in respect of parts of the Western military district of the Russian Federation.

Because the case is marked «top secret» and was discussed behind closed doors, the details of the charges in court, was not disclosed. Mardaleishvili, according to the court, is both stateless and has the status of «citizen of Estonia».
