The foreign Ministers of the Organization of American States (OAS) did not come to an agreement on the question of the political situation in Venezuela at a meeting in cancún.

Earlier it was reported that initially had prepared two draft resolutions on the situation in Venezuela. One of them, written at the initiative of the United States, Canada, Mexico, Peru and Panama, was supposed to appeal to President Nicolas Maduro with a request to suspend began the process of convening a constituent Assembly, call elections and to release political prisoners. The second project (an initiative of the Caribbean community) was only a support of the reconciliation process in Venezuela and the dialogue between the political forces.

Both projects received the required number of votes. The project is the first resolution got 20 votes in favor and five against, and eight abstained from voting. The second project gained eight votes in favor and 14 against, 11 abstained. The draft requires at least 23 votes.

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Venezuela Delcy rodríguez was not present for the vote.

Earlier it was reported that Venezuela, announced the beginning of the exit from the OAS in protest against interference in its Affairs, however, was intended to be presented at cancún, foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez.
