Ankara expects Washington to cooperate on the issue of extradition of opposition to Turkish preacher Fethullah Gulen extradition request which was transferred to the United States, said in an interview with RIA Novosti, Ambassador of Turkey in Russia Huseyin Dirioz.

The Turkish authorities accuse Gulen living in the United States, of involvement in the attempted coup of the coup in July last year. Gulen himself condemned the rebellion and declared his innocence. In Turkey after these events, he was arrested more than 50 thousand people laid off or dismissed more than 100 thousand civil servants.

«All materials of the dossier handed over to the American side, the work carried out through diplomatic channels. And at every opportunity we raise this question (in the dialogue with the United States),» said the diplomat.

According to him, the United States insists that the issue is within the competence of the courts, not the Executive branch.

«But we expect that Washington will cooperate,» said a senior diplomat.
