General Director of «Georgian airlines» Givi Davitashvili believes that the issue in connection with the airport Zhukovsky may not be the main reason limiting the Russian side of the flight Tbilisi-Moscow.

Earlier in the Ministry of transport of the Russian Federation stated that the Agency has restricted flights of the airline «Georgian Airways» from Moscow and Tbilisi because Tbilisi has not agreed to the flights of the Russian airline «Ural airlines» from Moscow Zhukovsky airport in Georgia.

«The theme of Zhukovsky airport – is generally a separate topic. Differences appeared due to the fact that we believe that the Zhukovsky airport is the same Moscow airport and it is no different. Second, about this airport no negotiations between airlines was conducted, and the third on disagreements about the airport Zhukovskiy, the Russian side has said no to fly in the direction of Kazan,» — said RIA Novosti Davitashvili.

According to him, Moscow and Tbilisi have long agreed on the number of flights that should be operated by the airlines of both countries. Davitashvili said that according to the contract, both parties must comply with 21 flights a week.

«That is why the decision of the Russian side were a surprise for us… the issue of competition can be one of the reasons of such a decision, it’s probably part of the Russian policy. We, the representatives of the airlines, look at it as a business, but as we can see, the side of the Russian Federation considers not only the business and looking at it as a political part,» added the CEO.
