French writer Anne Golon, author of a series of historical novels about Angelique, died on 96-m to year of life, reports Agence France Presse with reference to the family of the writer.

As reported by her daughter, Anne Golon died on Friday in Versailles.

Real name Anne Golon — Simon Changé. Together with her husband, a native of Russia Vsevolod Golubinov, which appeared under the pseudonym of Serge Golon, she created a series of 13 novels about Angelique beauty and the adventurer of the seventeenth century.

The first novel «Angelique, Marquise of the angels», was released in 1956 in Germany under the name of Anne Golon. The following year, he published in France, in this edition the authors have included Anne and Serge Golon. It was considered that the introduction of a male name made the book more seriously.

Later Simon Changé argued that the author was just she and her husband do more to help her in search of historical material.

A series of books about Angelique quickly gained popularity around the world. In 1964 appeared the film adaptation of the first novel from Michel Mercier in the title role, followed by four more film. In 2013, a new version of «Angelica, Marquise of angels» was produced by Ariel Zeitoun.

  1. I have been a faithful fan of Anne Golon since I was 13 years old. Now, at 70, I am deeply saddened that she is gone, but deeply grateful that she was here to be my inspiration for a lifetime.
