Libya approached the level of oil production of 1 million barrels per day, said in an interview with RIA Novosti the head of the ruling in Tripoli, the national consensus government, fees Sarraj.

OPEC at the end of 2016, agreed to cut its oil production. Together with OPEC production reduces the number of countries that are not members of the cartel. While Libya and Nigeria are under no obligation to reduce production.

«We have made significant progress in improving oil production. When we arrived in Tripoli (Libya NTC moved to Tripoli in March 2016 – ed.), it was less than 300 thousand barrels of oil. We are now close to production one million barrels a day. We believe this is a big positive. Work hard to ensure that this was reflected in the economic status of people, to deliver them from difficulties,» said Sarraj.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National oil company of Libya (National Oil Corp., NOC), Mustafa Sanalla told reporters that Libya intends to increase oil production to 1 million barrels per day by the end of July from the current approximately 830 thousand barrels per day.

Libya has the largest oil reserves in Africa they are estimated at 48 billion barrels. Export after 2011 significantly decreased due to security problems in the country and political differences.
