At the meeting of the Council of foreign Ministers (CFM) of the CSTO, which was held in Minsk on 17 July, it was decided to revitalize the working group of the CSTO on Afghanistan, said Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

«Also, the decision aimed at strengthening working group of the CSTO in Afghanistan and a number of other current issues, including those related to the improvement of our military-technical cooperation,» Lavrov told reporters following the meeting.

The Russian foreign Minister noted that the meeting of the Council of foreign Ministers was held in Minsk fruitful.

«I think the meeting was productive, it will help to prepare well for the next CSTO summit, which will take place this autumn», — the Minister added.

CSTO was established on the basis of the Treaty on collective security signed on 15 may 1992 the member countries of the CIS. The members of the CSTO are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. Uzbekistan announced in late June 2012 that it was suspending its participation in the activities of the organization.
