Earthquake of magnitude 6.6 occurred off the coast of Peru in the southern part of the country, according to the European Mediterranean seismological centre (EMSC).

Tremors recorded at 21.05 Monday local time (Tuesday 05.05 GMT). The epicenter was located in the southern part of the island, 104 miles West of the town of Camana in the South of Peru. The earthquake lies at a depth of 10 kilometers.

According to the service SkyAlert, the magnitude of the quake reached 6,4. «The potential damage in the epicentral areas, the danger of a tsunami there,» – stated in the message.

Information on possible victims and destructions did not arrive.
