Two accused of preparing a terrorist attack on the plane in Australia got components for an explosive device in a parcel from one of the leaders of the terrorist group ISIS*, said the Deputy head of the Australian police, Michael Phelan.

Law enforcement Australia managed to prevent a terrorist attack on the plane. Two suspects are 49-year-old Khaled Mahmoud Hayat and 32-year-old Mahmoud Hayat have already been charged in the preparation and planning of the attack. The defendants had intended to plant a bomb on Board the Etihad Airways flight that took off from Sydney on July 15.

«An improvised explosive device has been sent from abroad. The defendants assembled the bomb according to the instructions of the commander of the IG to lay ready an explosive device on Board the aircraft», — quotes the words of Phelan newspaper Sydney Morning Herald.

According to Reuters, the parcel arrived by airmail from Turkey. Prepared the explosive device which has been collected by the attackers was disguised as a meat grinder.

According to police, the idea of a terrorist attack with the use of sulfur dioxide was a separate plan. The defendants had intended to implement it in crowded places or on public transport.

Phelan noted that the accused were «far from creating an operating device for himataki».

The accused could face life imprisonment. Another defendant in the case is still questioned by law enforcement authorities.
