Russia and Japan have common understanding of the importance of mutually beneficial cooperation, and special emphasis should be placed on the development of interregional and cross-border relations, said in greeting the head of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The message was read out on Monday, the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Konstantin Kosachev in Tokyo at the opening ceremony dedicated to the anniversary of Russian-Japanese forum.

“We share a common understanding of the strategic importance of active development of long-term mutually beneficial partnership,” — said Matvienko.

In her words, “there remains great potential for further expansion of Interparliamentary ties, can seriously strengthen business and friendly relations between our countries”.

“The emphasis is important to do on strengthening interregional and cross-border ties that can qualitatively enhance the growth of scientific, technical, industrial and investment potential”, — said Matvienko.
