The mission of the Shanghai cooperation organization (SCO) on Tuesday started work on observing the presidential elections in Uzbekistan, reported RIA Novosti the representative of the press service of the CEC of the Republic.

Presidential elections will be held on December 4. All four political parties officially operating in the country, has registered candidates for participation in them. “Members of the observer mission issued the mandates of the established sample, which give them the right to participate in all activities on preparation and conduct of elections, and to stay in the premises for voting on election day and during the counting of votes”, — said the representative of the CEC. According to him, the mission included 20 representatives from member countries of the organization — Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China and Tajikistan. Headed the mission of the SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov.

According to the CEC, the elections will be monitored by more than 80 thousand local observers and about 600 international ─ from various organizations, including the CIS, OSCE, SCO, the Organization of Islamic cooperation and the world organization of the electoral bodies.
