CEC: in Armenia will be formed 38 constituencies

ЦИК: в Армении будут образованы 38 избирательных округов

The decision of the Central election Commission of Armenia in the country will be formed by 38 electoral districts instead of the previous 41, reported the press service of the CEC.

“The decision of the Central election Commission of Armenia in the Republic will act in the 38 district election commissions, ten of which are in Yerevan and 28 in the regions”, — stated in the message. First, the Armenian capital, there were 13 constituencies.

In accordance with the requirements of the electoral code, district election commissions will be formed within 21 days.

The Armenian Parliament on may 25 adopted a new electoral code. The next parliamentary elections scheduled for April 2017. The development and adoption of the code caused by the constitutional reform, involving the country’s transition from a presidential to a parliamentary form of government. A referendum on changing the form of government was held in Armenia on 6 December 2015.
