MIPT: the “jump” in ranking universities of the BRICS will help to attract investment

The sharp increase in MIPT positions in the ranking of Times Higher Education will allow the Institute to attract new investments from abroad and become more attractive to students from BRICS countries, according to the MIPT rector Tagir Aushev.

“Today a high position in the world rankings is not just a place in the list. This is an opportunity to get more funding, to invite scientists of international level, compete for the best students, not only in Russia but also abroad. For us very important markets of educational services, as China, India and Brazil. And occupying a high place in the ranking of the BRICS, we can attract students from these countries on more favorable terms,” — said Vice-rector for research and strategic development of MIPT.

App British Newspapers Times — Times Higher Education, with the assistance of the information group Thomson Reuters, each year is a number of rankings in which respondents edition experts rank the universities of the world.

Every autumn comes the list of best universities in the world (World University Rankings) on the basis of level of educational and research programs, the citation of scientific articles, the number of foreign students and specialists and so on. Since 2013 the Times began to publish a separate ranking of Universities, compiled by subject basis.

Separately, the Times Higher Education publishes the rating, compiled for the universities working in the BRICS countries and countries with developing economies. This year in the top 20 of this ranking came from three universities – Moscow state University, MIPT and MEPhI.

As noted by the rector of MIPT Nikolay Kudryavtsev, MIPT have made a historic leap this year, rising in the ranking with 93 positions to 12th place. According to the head of the institution, it is certain that in the near future, MIPT will be able to take a high place in global rankings of educational institutions.
