“On Sunday in Abu Dhabi, I knew that this could be my last race. And right before the start it became clear. I wanted to enjoy every second of my last race,” Rosberg wrote on his page in Facebook.

According to him, he decided to take this step on Monday evening. The only thing that forced to doubt the correctness of the choice, said Rosberg, the risk to embarrass “my racing family.”

The title was Rosberg’s first career. In the last race of the season — the Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi- he finished second, losing to team-mate Lewis Hamilton.
