Russia must do everything to ensure security at the world Cup and the confederations Cup, said on Thursday Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

The government on Thursday was considering a draft law on amendments to the administrative code relating to liability for violations at sporting events.

“Practice shows that these norms should be corrected, especially in the context of preparations for major events — the confederations Cup and world Cup. We, as hosts, as hosts should make everything that these games have done very well. Dignity is for all viewers, first and foremost, safe,” — said Medvedev.

He noted that the plan is to add Cao amendments, in particular to introduce the notion of gross violations, to establish differentiated penalties, the project also provides for the possibility of arrest for 15 days and the prohibition of visiting of official competitions up to seven years.

“The rules should apply not only to the citizens but also on foreign nationals for violations will be fined or expelled for limits of the Russian Federation”, —said the Prime Minister.

The first ever world Cup in Russia will take place from 14 June to 15 July 2018. The tournament matches will be played in Moscow, Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-don, Sochi and Yekaterinburg.

The matches of the confederations Cup, which will be first held in Russia will be held from 17 June to 2 July 2017 in Kazan, Sochi, Saint-Petersburg and Moscow.
