The pharmaceutical centre for the development of new antibiotics will be created on the basis of the enterprise “Biokhimik” Saransk, has informed a press-service of the head of Mordovia Republic.

On Friday in the presence of the Minister of health of Russia Veronika Skvortsova and the head of the Republic Vladimir Volkov, Chairman of the government of Mordovia Vladimir Sushkov, the head of “Biochemist” Denis Shvetsov, rector of Moscow state University named after N. P. Vladislav Kochetkov Sergey Vdovin has signed a cooperation agreement on creation of the center.

“Today we witnessed the signing of very important agreements on the establishment of Mordovia pharmaceutical research and production and the engineering center of “Antibiotics”. In fact we are talking about recreation on the “Biochemist” domestic research and production base for the production of antibiotics of a full cycle. It is important that the project is implemented jointly with the leading classical University of Russia, Moscow state University. Ogarev and with the active support of the government of Mordovia”, — quoted in the message words Skvortsova.

The project will take place in several stages. It is planned that in 2018 the engineering center will be on state registration of new drugs, and to market their outputs by 2020.

The head of Mordovia said that “this project is of strategic importance for the whole country,” he will solve the problem of import substitution, reducing dependence on imports from foreign drug manufacturers. Volkov also said that the “Biochemist”, 90% of which is included in the List of vital and essential medicinal products, in November 2015, has launched a new line for the production of tablets. In the framework of the project there was constructed a complex of clean rooms in full compliance with the requirements of GMP standard, equipped with modern technological equipment of leading world manufacturers. Investment in the project has already exceeded 400 million rubles.

This year, the company began to build a new plant for the production of liquid sterile medicinal products in ampoules, vials, small and large dose and pre-filled syringes. The new plant with an investment of 3 billion rubles is planned to open in the next 1.5 years.
