Lavrov: Putin’s visit to Japan will give impetus to relations between Moscow and Tokyo

The visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Japan and the forthcoming signing of the documents will give a new impetus to relations between Moscow and Tokyo, said Saturday the Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“We hope that the results of the visit, the upcoming talks between the leaders of the documents will give further, serious impetus to the development of the whole complex of bilateral relations,” Lavrov said at a press conference after talks with his Japanese counterpart.

According to him, the document set to cover economic, cultural, humanitarian and scientific spheres, thus will be strengthened the contractual framework of cooperation between the two countries.

As Lavrov said, Russia and Japan are satisfied with the development of cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries and the security Council. “Resumed after a hiatus of nearly four years a strategic dialogue at the level of first Deputy foreign Ministers held the Ministerial high-level consultations, and today we continued the coordination of the plan of such consultations on next year,” he said.
