Moscow and Tokyo have agreed to work together for effective implementation of the new resolution of the UN security Council on the DPRK, said the representative of the Ministry of foreign Affairs Masato Otaka.

The UN Security Council on Wednesday tightened the sanctions regime against North Korea after it conducted nuclear tests. The corresponding resolution number 2321 was passed unanimously. Resolution followed by a list of individuals and organizations to whom will be travel bans and freezing of assets and name of materials, equipment and technologies prohibited to supply in the country.

Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and Japan, Sergei Lavrov and Fumio Kishida on Saturday held talks in Moscow. After the press conference, in which Ministers spoke about the results of negotiations, the parties went to a working lunch at which they discussed the international agenda. In particular, according to the representative of the Japanese Ministry, Lavrov and Kishida discussed the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

“The parties have welcomed a new resolution of the security Council”, — said the otaku.

He also noted that the parties “have agreed to work with the fact that the resolution was as efficient as possible.”
