RAO within three months will consider a draft about the lessons of Orthodoxy in schools

Russian Academy of education (RAO) will review the revised draft of the supplementary school course on the foundations of Orthodoxy within three months, RIA Novosti reported the press service of RAO.

Previously, the newspaper “Kommersant” wrote that in Russian schools may receive the subject “Orthodox culture” for all time of training of children from first through eleventh grades. The Ministry of education on Tuesday assured that the subject is devoted to the study of Orthodox culture, will not be introduced in the school curriculum on a compulsory basis, and its appearance as an elective is not an initiative of the Ministry.

“Part of the remarks of experts and members of the EMA (educational-methodical Association), which were expressed at the meeting on 20 September, the developers have made. And now members of the EMA have to see what this program has changed and how it now matches what it should be. And, apparently, it has at the next meeting of the EMA and happen to be held within two to three months”, — said the Agency interlocutor.

The regulations re-examination of the revised document provides for the possibility of both full-time and part-time voting on the question. In the absence of a quorum (50% plus one vote) by absentee voting consideration of the issue shall be appointed in full-time mode. To a questionnaire response was received from only 30% of the members of the EMU.
