Media: the British Prime Minister to dismiss Ministers in the event of information leakage

Prime Minister Theresa may instructed to dismiss those Ministers and officials who are associated with the leakage of confidential information, the newspaper Daily Mail with reference to which in a letter from Cabinet Secretary sir Jeremy Heyward.

“The Prime Minister has instructed that we immediately increased security measures and improved our response to spills. She instructed us to start this work immediately and expects to see rapid and visible improvement”, — the newspaper quotes an excerpt of the dated 28th November letter marked “confidential”. According to the publication, in a letter to sir Hayward mentions the increased number of leaks, particularly associated with Brexit.

“Any employee in respect of whom it is established that he leaked confidential information to be dismissed, even if the national security will not be jeopardized,” the letter said. Headword also promised to apply strict measures of disciplinary punishment in case of detection of violations.

The letter emphasized that Ministers and officials will have to use the offered Whitehall mobile phones, which can be inspected by security personnel. Investigation of leakage will, presumably, deal with the employees of the British intelligence MI5. They will have the authority to demand access to a mobile phone and email, and conduct interrogations of suspects.

According to the newspaper, the information was disseminated in print, not electronic, in order to preserve confidentiality, but, nevertheless, the letter was leaked to the media.
