The Russian government approved the passport of a priority project “Safe and quality roads,” according to the website of the Cabinet of Ministers.

“A key goal of the project is to ensure the good condition of roads and reduce the number of emergency-dangerous areas in 34 urban agglomerations with population over 500 thousand people each. The duration of the project: November 2016-March 2026 (inclusive)”, — stated in the message.

According to the project, by April 2026 34 urban agglomerations with population over 500 thousand people is necessary to bring not less than 85% of the road network up to standard in terms of smoothness & adhesion requirements of technical regulations of the customs Union “Safety of highways”.

The number of emergency-dangerous sections on roads within the project should be reduced to 15% from 2016. Relevant roads will be equipped with fencing and lighting, and ground pedestrian crossings and public transport stops and protective equipment. In addition, there are restrictions of speed.

There will also be an embedded intelligent systems of traffic management and transport infrastructure.

In 2017 it is planned to implement public accessible information and analytic system of control over the formation and efficiency of use of budgetary funds, as well as the quality monitoring system and the level of accidents of the roads. The monitoring system will allow users to upload photo and video fixing violations of traffic rules, and to enter data about emergency-dangerous sections of roads.
