On the Day of the Hermitage in St. Petersburg will show a three-dimensional video performance

Unique three-dimensional video performance will present on Wednesday at the Palace square in St. Petersburg in honor of the founding of the State Hermitage Museum, said the Museum.

The Museum annually celebrates its founding on December 7, the feast of St. Catherine. The date of Foundation of the Hermitage is considered to be 1764, when Catherine the Great purchased a collection of paintings from the Berlin merchant gotzkowsky.

To this date the Hermitage every year prepares a special program, called “days of the Hermitage”, which includes various events and a number of new exhibitions. This year in honor of the Day of the Hermitage will host a multimedia 3D mapping performance.

“This time of Petersburgers and guests of the city waiting for the magic “Metamorphosis” – light and delicate stroll through the halls of the Museum. This year 3D projection will be presented on the facade of the Winter Palace”, — stated in the message.

Musical score of the play is assembled from fragments of works by Sergei Prokofiev, Maurice Ravel, Alfred Schnittke, Dmitri Shostakovich, Aram Khachaturian.

The sessions of the three-dimensional video performance will be broadcast every 10 minutes from 18.00 to 22.00. The entrance to the performance free.

The Hermitage also announced December 7 an additional free day for all categories of individual visitors. In addition, on this day the Museum will extend its work until 22.00.

The state Hermitage possesses a collection amounting to about 3 million works of art and monuments of world culture. It includes paintings, drawings, sculpture and objects of applied art, archaeological finds.
