Slutsky: state Duma and the Federation Council will be able to continue the difficult interaction with the PACE

Слуцкий: Госдума и Совфед сумеют продолжить непростое взаимодействие с ПАСЕ

The Chairman of the Duma Committee on international Affairs Leonid Slutsky considers that the state Duma and the Federation Council will continue to hold the “difficult” interaction with the political groups of PACE, not to lose the opportunity to promote the foreign policy of the Russian Federation in the parliamentary plane.

“I am confident that together with our colleagues from the Federation Council, we will be able to communicate effectively, although this interaction is notoriously difficult, with political groups of the PACE in order not to lose the opportunity to promote the foreign policy of the Russian Federation in the parliamentary plane”, — said Slutsky, who participated in the meeting of state Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland.

In 2014 and 2015 PACE because of the position of Russia in the Crimea adopted the resolution, which deprived the Russian delegation of the right to vote at the session, the right to participate in the work of the statutory bodies and the monitoring of elections. In January 2016, Russia decided not to send the necessary to confirm the authority of the delegation documents, but refused to work with Strasbourg as a whole.
