Ankara police on Saturday arrested eight militants of the terrorist group «Islamic state» (IG, is prohibited in the Russian Federation) on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack, Anadolu Agency reports.

According to the Agency, the law enforcement authorities suspect that the militants had intended to attack on the eve of the New year.

During successful operation, the police managed to obtain documents of the organization. The Agency did not specify exactly where suspects were detained and what kind of attack they were going to do.

A day earlier, Turkish police detained in Adana province in the South of the country 40 people suspected of involvement in terrorist group «Islamic state» (IG, is prohibited in Russia). During searches in their houses were found explosives and improvised explosive devices.
