Pilgrims and tour operators are asking the Saudi Arabian authorities to cancel the collection for the believers, by repeatedly performing the Hajj and Umrah (small Hajj), writes the Saudi Gazette.

The Hajj is a pilgrimage to Mecca, which is required to make at least once in the life of every Muslim. Unlike the big Hajj, performed in a particular month, the lesser Hajj can be performed any time of the year. According to Islamic doctrine, re the Hajj, a person can make for their loved ones, not having any reason of the ability to perform the rite.

«This is a big blow for Umrah operators», — quotes the edition of the representative of the tourism campaign from the Indian city of Kerala. He hoped that the government will cancel the tax for the Hajj operators and the Saudi business.

Scrip fee is 2 thousands of Saudi riyals (533 USD). The newspaper did not specify the nature of tax — whether it is paid as a lump sum, or a fee is imposed on each repeat visit of the Holy sites of Mecca.

However, other industry representatives and pilgrims believe that the duty will not affect the number of pilgrims. Every year, the Kingdom receives more than seven million pilgrims.
