Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev congratulated the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill on the feast of the Passover, noting that the Russian Orthodox Church does a lot for harmonization of interethnic and interreligious relations.

As said Medvedev, Easter brings millions of faithful who greeted him with special feelings of joy and hope, with a sincere desire to do good, to help others.

«For many centuries the Russian Orthodox Church is the guardian of the traditions of our people, is the unity and cohesion of the country. And today, under Your guidance, she conducts a lot of charitable and educational activities. Does a lot for harmonization of interethnic and interreligious relations. This important work deserves the most sincere respect,» Medvedev said in the telegram, published on the government website.

Orthodox believers celebrate Sunday the main Christian holiday — Easter or Resurrection of Christ.
